Why Donate Blood?
While a person needs a blood transfusion every 4 seconds in France, less than 4% of the population donates blood every year (MCEN, 2025).
TEAFrench Blood Establishment (EFS) regularly calls for the maintenance of reserves at a sufficient level. In January 2024, France had 88,000 blood bags, for example, when 100,000 were ideally needed (West-France, 2024).
Blood donations are essential for:
- Surgical procedures, emergencies and care for people with chronic conditions;
- Women experiencing complications during childbirth;
- Or the victims of accidents or natural disasters.
In order to help patients, businesses and their employees can mobilize and donate. Giving Blood is an important gesture: a single donation can save up to 3 lives, giving only 2 hours of your time!
Donating Blood in a Business
Encourage employees to donate their working time
Faced with the steady decline in stocks, businesses have a central role to play in encouraging people to take action by encouraging their employees to donate blood. Their ability to mobilize collectively can have a direct impact on the availability of blood reserves and therefore on the lives of patients.
And soon, that commitment could be facilitated: A Law Has Been Passed On June 4, 2025 at the National Assembly to allow employees to donate blood during their working time, without loss of pay. The text must now be examined in the Senate, but it already announces a major evolution to remove an important obstacle: the lack of time.
But already today, many French companies are already allowing their employees to donate blood On Their Working Time.
This is particularly the case of our partner companies, which participated with Komeet in a major challenge on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day in June 2025: the 2000 challenge for blood, with a goal of 2,000 donations to save 6,000 lives!
The Benefits of Donating Blood for the Company and Its Teams
Committing to blood donation is a citizen gesture that also allows companies to unite their employees around values of mutual aid and solidarity.
Strengthen Team Cohesion
Participating in a blood drive together creates a real team spirit. Employees come together around a common cause and feel proud to contribute collectively to saving lives. This type of initiative promotes solidarity between colleagues and strengthens relationships, while giving meaning to their daily professional lives!
Valuing the Company's Social Commitment
Allowing employees to donate blood during their working time affirms company values: they show that the organization takes into account its impact on the community. This commitment is appreciated not only by internal teams, but also by partners and customers, who see the company as a responsible and committed player.

Raising Awareness About Blood Donation
Raising awareness is the first step in mobilizing your employees. Broadcast testimonies, key figures or informative videos internally to remind people of the importance of donating blood.
Several actions are possible to raise awareness among your employees, for example:
- Display visual materials in your premises (cafeteria, break room, lobby);

For companies with more than 500 employees and with at least fifty donors, the French Blood Establishment (EFS) can come directly to your offices!
Are you a company with less than 500 employees? Suggest that your employees go to a House of the Don Neighboring or in your municipality and book a slot dedicated to your employees.
This initiative makes donations accessible and allows all employees to be involved in the process!

Launch a solidarity challenge as a team
A collective challenge makes it easy to involve your employees in the blood donation process! By turning blood donation into an internal challenge, you stimulate motivation and make commitment even more concrete.
Here are some ideas for organizing a solidarity challenge:
- Set a collective goal: for example, to reach 50 donations in one month;
- Create a dynamic team: create groups by department, site or region to promote mutual encouragement;
- Celebrate milestones: send a collective message to each milestone reached (for example: 10, 25, 50 donations). This recognition maintains motivation throughout the challenge.
Encouraging engagement, even without a donation
Some Employees May Not Be Eligible for Blood Donation for medical reasons, but that should not exclude them from the process! In particular, they can:
- Participate in the logistical organization of the collection;
- Or Support associations Suchlike The Emplaés gold Laurette Fugain.
In this way, each employee can contribute, at their own level, to the success of the highlight.
