From strategy to action: raising awareness and involving employees on company CSR issues

In 2020, Essendi (ex AccorInvest) is structuring its CSR strategy. Very quickly, a conviction emerged: to embody this transition, teams must be involved. A consulting firm supports the definition of this strategy, then Alicia Goya is recruited as ESG/CSR Manager to deploy the entire CSR policy within the group, conduct an inventory and consolidate internal data.

Then, a strong choice is made: start with employee commitment to raise awareness of CSR issues and give life to the strategy. In 2022, the partnership with Komeet starts with a clear target: the 1,000 employees at the head office in 25 countries. Objective? From theory to action, by involving employees in solidarity missions: making commitment a pillar of corporate culture.

Employee engagement at the heart of corporate culture

A structured engagement program supported by governance

  • Several committees allow management to be involved in the group's commitment process (within the Board of Directors, the Executive Council and hotel managers)
  • 1 day per year is offered to each employee to engage in an association, during their working time
  • 20+ ambassadors are mobilized in the 25 countries where the program is implemented and partnerships with local associations are established.

Unifying Moments of Commitment to Multiply the Impact

  • 4 Highlights per year are organized in each country: key moments to create collective momentum around an important theme for the company.
  • An “ESG Challenge” takes place every year to bring teams together around ESG issues.
  • Webinars and awareness-raising challenges are offered regularly by Komeet and available online on the platform.

Active communication around the engagement process

  • Communication kits and tools are available to disseminate the engagement process
  • A monthly newsletter is sent to talk about employee engagement topics
  • A channel dedicated to team engagement has been created on Teams to facilitate the sharing of information
